After Every Trip I Feel Recharged And Ready to Tackle The World!

This week we had a pleasure of interviewing Melinda, who combines her career as a cheerleading coach with a nomadic lifestyle of a traveler. She captures her travel memories on her Instagram page @shakingmypalmpalms. Today she shares with us all about her travel adventures and gives us her favorite tips.

What made you fall in love with traveling?

Owning my own business and working long hours can be overwhelming and daunting and travel for me is like hitting a reset button.  It forces me out of my comfort zone and each new place is a new adventure and a place of discovery and often times self-discovery!  When I return home from a trip I feel recharged and ready to tackle the world!

What destination is most memorable for you?

This is a tough one because I’ve fallen in love with so many places but the minute I landed on Exuma I felt like I was home. The electric blue water, the friendly nature of the Bahamians and the white sand beaches were incredible.  There’s truly no other place quite like it.

What’s the craziest situation you’ve gotten yourself into while traveling?

I took a road trip once to Pensacola and didn’t book a hotel room in advance hoping to just do so along the way.  About an hour out every hotel I searched was booked due to a big event, needless to say, I spent the night in my hot car in a Walmart parking lot.

What is your favorite way of traveling?

My absolute favorite way to travel is a sailing charter.  There’s really nothing else quite like it.  You get to experience a place in a way you never could without doing so.  Bareboat charters are just incredible.  I’m currently planning my 4th charter and am counting down the days!

What’s your go-to travel tip?

If flying always takes a carry on with a few toiletries, a change of clothes, and a snack.  Unfortunately, I’ve been a victim of lost luggage a few times.  Once was for my best friend’s wedding and my luggage never made it to our destination.  We were in a remote area of Jamaica and stores, much less clothing stores were limited.  My bridesmaid dress never arrived and it made things quite challenging.

If you could choose what superpower would you prefer to have?

The one superpower I would love to have would be to teleport myself wherever I wanted at any time.  I’m pretty certain I would never see winter again.  I would my days' island hopping and always catch the best sunsets beachside someplace new every single day!!
